Description
STEREOPHILE CHESKY RECORDS INC CR6 Stereo 331/3 rpm Johannes Brahms Symphony No. 4 in E Minor, Op.98 Royal Philharmonic Orchestra FRITZ REINER, Conductor. The Fourth Symphony was the last of his own works Brahms heard in concert. Dying of cancer of the liver, on March 7, 1897 he attended a concert in Vienna conducted by Hans Richter. The audience could easily see by his appearance that Brahms did not have long to live and after each movement there was tremendous applause and a great outpouring of affection. He died three weeks later on April 3rd.
