Description
For auction is "CHET BAKER AND STRINGS," on Columbia CL 549, original "High Fidelity" DG, 1954.
SOUND: G/VG
It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to both sides completely. The playback is far from perfect, with consistent surface noise and random ticks throughout. That said, there isn't any point when it is overpowering, and the record was very enjoyable for me!
VINYL: G/VG
There are several marks on both sides that merited investigation. At least one feel-able mark in A6, "Love'" and one feel-able mark in B2, "What A Difference..." The labels are maroon/gold deep-grooved Columbia. Spindle marks on both labels, but otherwise they look very nice.
JACKET: VG+/MN-
The jacket is the star here! Edges and spine are solid and very nice with minimal wear. The corners are very solid with minimal routine wear. The front is terrific, clean unmarked, very nice condition. It has the "High Fidelity Plus" sticker upper left. The back cover is very clean with minor aging. There is a single, stray pen-mark.
The photos are of the exact record up for bids. Look before you bid, ask if you want any additional info or pics.
A nice original copy that plays well enough all the way through. With a beautiful jacket! Add this original "high fidelity" pressing to you collection at a tremendous value! No reserve, bidding starts at $10.
Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability.
Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.
If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction. I'm not a collector, nor an audiophile, but I think they are desirable if you're into this kind of material. Click "see other items" and thanks for looking!
