DESCRIPTION
Chet Baker - “Chet Baker Sings” World Pacific Records PJ-1222 (Mono) from 1957. Great Cool Jazz Album from Chet Baker on an Original World Pacific Black and Silver Label Deep Groove Pressing! Along with the Star, the band features Russ Freeman, James Bond, Peter Littman, Carson Smith, Bob Neel and Lawrence Marable! There are multiple versions of this Classic album, this one is on the Black with Silver Print World Pacific Records Deep Groove label. The label reads simply “Chet Baker Sings” without the “Pacific Jazz Series” notation. The labels do not mention PJ-1222 but rather simply (1805) and (1806). Matrix / Runoff reads: PS-1805-2 B-25775 and PS-1806-2 B25776. There is a 1957 Copyright date on the back cover.

CONDITION

The Sleeve shows some slight ring and edge shelf wear. The bottom seam is split maybe 2” at the opening edge. There is a round red adhesive label that wraps around the spine near the lower left corner - probably part of someone’s cataloging system and could maybe be removed. There is a white rectangular label with some notations in the upper right corner, this one should be easily removable. There is a little trace of staining in edges of the upper right cover on the back. Still, very solid, no other splits, tears, writing, stains, etc. and I would rate it as a VG and possibly even better. The Vinyl itself is in Glossy condition looking like it was probably only played a few times. There are a couple light sleeve scuffs but nothing at all serious. Should rate at least EX if not closer to Near Mint. The labels show a couple light spindle trails but are otherwise Near Mint.

Records are graded to the best of my ability to Goldmine Visual standards. If you are not familiar with this grading system (or even if you think you are!), please check it out before bidding I have summarized the important (i.e. I think everyone knows what Mint means) points below in Goldmine's words:
Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK.
Very Good (VG): Surface noise will be evident upon playing,... Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound.
I stand by my grades but would like us to be on the same page so no problems arise. I have been selling Vintage Vinyl for over twenty years on the net and I can count the returns I've had on one hand so I believe my grading is fair and accurate. One important note, I try to grade to these Goldmine guides as best as I can understand and apply them. This gives us both a written standard to go by rather than having to guess. But.... it also means that I don't issue refunds over differences of opinion in grading i.e. "That's not MY idea of a VG record!" - I don't know what your standards are and, as such, can't grade to them. I guarantee that items I sell will meet my description, nothing more or less!
