Similar to Fleetwood Mac in that Chicken Shack opt for a less serious approach for their follow up to their debut album and augment the sound with a horn section, get a little more rockin' and to top it off, the madman Webb introduces each song by poking fun at many British luminaries of the day such as Prime Minister Harold Wilson & radio personality John Peel. Those unfamiliar with the personalities in question still may get a chuckle or two from the proceedings but anyway, the songs themselves include highlights of the same nature as the debut, that is the instrumentals and the Christine led numbers though there is a effective duet by Perfect and Webb on "A woman is the blues" and Stan the man has a great rocker in "Tell me". The obligatory Freddie King "Remington ride" chugs at breakneck speed while the impressive original instrumental "Pony and trap" is an unusual speed and is the better of the two instrumentals. Christine swings on "I wanna see my baby", the harmonica filled "Mean old world" and last but not least, her self penned classic "Get like you used to be" which at it's slow pace may shock those used to the Mac's much faster run throughs of this song on the 1975 tour. More colorful than it's predecessor but equality as effective.

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS STRONG VG++, just a notch below NEAR MINT. A few light abrasions (probably just sleeve scuffs inflicted in storage over the years) ARE VISIBLE, but they appear fairly  insignificant relative to the overall condition of the vinyl, and are only moderately visually distracting. For most part, the vinyl looks impeccable, without any MAJOR visual flaws or imperfections. Much of the original luster is intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)          The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)             The record comes in a poly-lined inner sleeve, which has - apparently with success - shielded the vinyl from the harmful impact of elements over many years!

(d)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·       COVER (THIS IS THE ORIGINAL, LAMINATED, GLOSSY COVER):

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT VERY GOOD++ (VG++).

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-         Cover has JUST A HINT of ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 2.

-         Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the seams

-         The cover has a few scratch marks on the front side

-         Back cover has circular tarnish (grayish, dust-covered sections, which closely follow the contour of the record),  probably caused by friction or by rubbing against other covers during the storage. The tarnish is similar in appearance to a common ring wear, but, UNLIKE ring wear, these grayish areas may be possible to clean up with a minor effort and with a right cleansing solution.

-         Cover shows some light yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging   (nothing significant).

-         Minor shelf wear noted on the spine (nothing significant)

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:

-        No split seams

-        No cut-out (drill) holes.

-        No cut-out corners

-        No saw-marks or indents

-        No dirt/dust rubbing stains (friction marks caused by rubbing against other covers)

-        No writing

-        No stamps

-        No tearing: no chips, dents or nicks on the seams

-        No peel-off marks

-        No stains

-        No mold or mildew spots

-        No stickers or labels   (EXCEPT for the stereo sticker)

-        No water damage

-        No warping

-        No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover

-        No glue traces or wax residue.

-        No bar codes

-        No RIAA stamps or stickers.
