+ 3 PAGES LETTER BY CHRIS SIEVEY WITH DISCOGRAPHY AND DRAWING
Original and very rare 1979 memorabilia item by the great Manchester artist Chris Sievey and his band The Freshies - a pioneer of DIY punk movement and composer of some of the greatest powerpop songs of the late '70s and early '80s - later known by his Frank Sidebottom persona.
This is actually a 5-page stapled A4 fanzine/booklet on green paper. The first page is a hilarious comic of "Ms Razz Vs The Freshies" which begins like this: "The story so far... Ms Razz has formed her own Razz record label and signed the Freshies up so as to stop the Majors from poluting the nation with their sound. So far she has released a poor quality first ep called 'Chris Sievey-The Freshies' and has destroyed the master after pressing 500 copies. Along with poor distribution her plan is working and the Freshies remain and unknown band .. but.." and the the comic starts!
At the bottom of the page you can read the epic: "send £1.50 to Razz Records and I will send you a Freshies cassette so you can stick tape over the holes and record your fave band over it".
The rest of the pages are Razz and Freshies promotional stuff and media articles and ads (see images).
A 3-page letter is written by Chris Sievey on the reverse of the fanzine (on the blank pages). The letter is dated 4th June 1979 and it's about their 2nd EP "In at number 2", the 2nd page of the letter has the Razz catalogue with dates of release (singles and cassettes), while on the 3rd page you can find the band's line up and a nice drawing of the band ("official band photo"!) - all done by Chris Sievey.
A really scarce and great memorabilia item from the DIY punk/new wave scene and the legendary band from Manchester.
