CHRISTOPHER
"What'cha Gonna Do" LP
Original on "Chris-Tee" / Snyder Album Company
One of the absolute rarest American privately pressed hard psychedelic rock LP's of the 60's. An enduring work of stunning proportion, all the more amazing for having come out of the Carolina's at the time. All originals, high quality material, extended jamming, (the title track clocks in at over 12 minutes), lysergic lyrics, effects, some fine vocal harmonies, and musically transporting, gutsy, creative heavy guitar work. Acid rock mixed with acid blues, and lovely melodic rock songs, at times reminiscent of Corpus, Moving Sidewalks, Quicksilver, American Blues Exchange, Dragonfly, Litter (circa "Emerge"), Love, Tripsichord, and many others. Had it been a major label release it would have been a staple in every hippie's ear diet.
Condition:
Record: VG++, many would call this Near Mint. Record looks scarcely played -- maybe a handful of times at the most. Looks practically brand new. I dare say an original copy of this record will never again turn up in this condition.
Sleeve: Near Mint, only the very slightest bit of corner wear, but no edge wear or wear to sleeve. The original shrink wrap was still around this cover when I first obtained it.
One internet source says there were only 100 copies produced of this album. If anyone can confirm or deny this, please email me and I'll post it to the auction.
Some Reviews from ACID ARCHIVES:
Mix of bluesy hardrock and folkrock. Has a cool basic sound with honest teen vocals and some edgy lyrics. Not the best LP in the genre but pretty interesting, late-1960s/early 1970s heads should try the re if they can find it. The LP was released August 1969. The band were students at USC and decided to stick to college rather than the band. No relation to any other Christopher.

Quartet led by Frank Smoak. Jammy fuzz blues workouts and warm, flowing westcoast mystic truth telling with a world weary yearning. Bit of Cosmic Michael songspeak 'world is ridiculous' vibe as well. "Holiday" is the highlight, an over-the-top blaster worth of Sainte Anthony's Fyre. [RM]

Most of the songs on this South Carolina band’s LP are great. They’re played with considerable vitality and with cool lyrics about the key concerns in life, such as drugs, death and the passage of time. The highlight has to be “Holiday†with fuzzed up guitar and lots of snarling about their trip being “like a book, a real good book, it’s nice but not quite trueâ€. “The Great Clock†and “Death Song†are superb tracks with weary, wasted vocals lamenting the passage of time. The title track clocking in at over 12 minutes is not the highlight. However, it’s good enough not to mar the whole experience.
Take advantage of low opening bid and NO RESERVE!
This LP rarely EVER shows up for sale on Ebay! It is only the second copy I've ever seen and I live in the band's hometown. This copy is coming from my own personal collection. I hate to give it up, but bills are bills, right?

The Way I Grade Records:
I use standard "Goldmine Style" record grading and am pretty conservative. I rarely ever use the word "mint" because I feel that records are usually less than mint by the time they've been shipped from the plant to the distributor to the record store. A VG+ grading from me is what many other dealers would call "Mint" or "Near Mint". On the low end of the scale, if I call something G+ that means it's probably pretty worn and scuffed but will still play with a weighted stylus without skipping. If something is so banged up that it's going to skip I won't even bother to sell it. I rarely ever sell anything that I'd grade below a VG- unless it's something that's unbelievably rare that some collector will want to have it in his collection as a place-holder until he finds a better copy.
My feelings on reserve auctions:
Reserve auctions are for chumps. There's nothing worse that winning an auction and then finding out you didn't really win it because the seller has set some ridiculous reserve. I hate bidding on reserve auctions, so I don't use reserves when I sell stuff. I set the minimum bid at the lowest amount I'm willing to sell the item for. This sometimes helps the bidders save money and is a more honest way of doing business.
Shipping Charges:
Buyer pays $5.50 shipping in North America ($12 rest of the world). Shipping includes sturdy, professional-grade HEAVY CARDBOARD record mailer. In the United States shipping is done via PRIORITY MAIL. I recommend this form of shipping for records (especially rare records) because the less time a record spends in transit, the less time there is for the postal service to mess it up. This is particularly true during the Summer months. If you want insurance on your package there will be an extra charge -- be sure to email me before purchasing the item if you require extras like insurance or tracking (delivery confirmation). Before emailing me about the shipping prices, be aware that the cost of professional-grade packing materials and the weight that they add to the package and the cost of Priority Mail shipping all add up to the cost I am charging (and in some cases, $5.50 doesn't even cover it totally). You are getting the service you are paying for, unlike some other unscrupulous sellers who will charge $4 for shipping and then send your record via media mail stuffed into a bubble mailer. When you buy a record from me, you are buying a record packed and shipped with LOVE. As far as my price for shipping outside North America, I have one standard rate for all worldwide destinations because it saves me time. If you are bidding outside of North America and have a problem with paying $12 shipping, then you should look elsewhere for this item.
Accepted Forms of Payment
I accept paypal, cash, or postal money orders in the US. Orders outside the US are limited to paypal unless they want to send cash at their own risk. If sending cash through the mail, make sure it is WELL-HIDDEN. Also, if making payment by means other than paypal, don't forget to include a note saying what item you are sending payment for, and -- and this is crazy that I have to say this -- YOUR ADDRESS.
Email if you have any questions. Check my feedback to see testimonials to my service and quality of the items I sell. Bid with confidence knowing that I take pride in customer satisfaction! Check my other auctions. I've usually got a lot of wacky stuff on deck, so check it out.
