Linda Maria Ronstadt (born July 15, 1946) is an American popular music singer. She has earned 11 Grammy Awards, three American Music Awards, two Academy of Country Music awards, an Emmy Award, an ALMA Award, and numerous United States and internationally certified gold, platinum and multi-platinum albums. She has also earned nominations for a Tony Award and a Golden Globe award.

Ronstadt has collaborated with artists from a diverse spectrum of genres including Bette Midler, Billy Eckstine, Frank Zappa, Rosemary Clooney, Flaco Jiménez, Philip Glass, Warren Zevon, Emmylou Harris, Gram Parsons, Dolly Parton, Neil Young, Johnny Cash, and Nelson Riddle. She has lent her voice to over 120 albums and has sold more than 100 million records, making her one of the world's best-selling artists of all time. Christopher Loudon of Jazz Times noted in 2004, Ronstadt is "Blessed with arguably the most sterling set of pipes of her generation … rarest of rarities – a chameleon who can blend into any background yet remain boldly distinctive … It's an exceptional gift; one shared by few others."

In total, she has released over 30 studio albums and 15 compilation or greatest hits albums. Ronstadt charted 38 Billboard Hot 100 singles, with 21 reaching the top 40, 10 in the top 10, three at number 2, and "You're No Good" at number 1. This success did not translate to the UK, with only her single "Blue Bayou" reaching the UK Top 40. Her duet with Aaron Neville, "Don't Know Much", peaked at number 2 in December 1989. In addition, she has charted 36 albums, 10 top-10 albums and three number 1 albums on the Billboard Pop Album Chart.

In a 2011 interview with the Arizona Daily Star she said, "I am 100 percent retired and I'm not doing anything any more". It was announced publicly in August 2013 that Ronstadt had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in December 2012, which left her unable to sing.

Her autobiography, Simple Dreams: A Musical Memoir, was released in September 2013. It debuted in the Top 10 on The New York Times Best Sellers List.

Ronstadt was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April 2014. On July 28, 2014, she was awarded one of the twelve 2013 National Medals of Arts and Humanities.

Heart Like a Wheel is Linda Ronstadt's Grammy Award-winning fifth solo album recording and the last of her studio projects for Capitol Records, released in late 1974.

Heart Like a Wheel was well regarded from its initial release. Stephen Holden in his review for Rolling Stone found her voice on the album "totally, irresistibly sexy." And later marking it as a classic, Allmusic wrote that "it stands as a landmark of '70s mainstream pop/rock."
Heart Like a Wheel spent 51 weeks on the album chart. Based on her performance on the singles and album charts, Billboard magazine named Ronstadt the top female pop artist of the year. The album was certified Gold in January 1975 by the Recording Industry Association of America and belatedly both Platinum and Double Platinum in 1991.

Ronstadt won her first of a record 11 Grammy Awards in early 1976 for Best Country Vocal Performance Female for "I Can't Help It (If I'm Still In Love With You)." She was also nominated for Best Pop Vocal Performance Female (losing to Janis Ian for "At Seventeen"), and the album was nominated for Album Of The Year (losing to Paul Simon's Still Crazy After All These Years).

In 2003, Rolling Stone magazine ranked Heart Like a Wheel at number 164 on its list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. It was added to the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress on April 2, 2014 for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".

Heart Like A Wheel (1974) is Linda Ronstadt's fifth solo LP release and the last of her studio projects for Capitol Records. Ronstadt brought in producer Peter Asher and multi-instrumentalist/arranger Andrew Gold. Asher and Gold have been credited over the years as being a significant part of the album's artistic and commercial success. The result proved to be Ronstadt's commercial breakthrough. Released in November 1974, Heart Like A Wheel became the first of her three No. 1 peaks on the Billboard 200 album chart, right alongside the No.1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 for the first single "You're No Good.”

Cisco's 180-gram LP was cut by Kevin Gray from the original analog master tapes using AcousTech's all-analogue cutting system for optimum reproduction of Val Garay's and David Hassinger's recordings.

Not only do you get the hit "You're No Good" and the Everly Brothers' classic "When Will I Be Loved," but the sorrowful title track and Hank Williams' "I Can't Help It (If I'm Still In Love With You)" give testament to Ronstadt's legendary feel for driving the emotion home. What's more, if the powerful "Willing" doesn't have you longing for the days of bell bottoms and bandanas, you just aren't feeling it. With production by Peter Asher and guests like Emmylou Harris, Maria Muldaur, J.D. Souther and most of the aforementioned Eagles, Ronstadt crafted a magnificent blend of country, rock and folk that is among the greatest records made in a generation.
