Description
CLARENCE CARTER
TELL DADDY (1967)
When they're talking about the great sounds that Atlantic Records was getting out of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, this must be exactly the sort of record they are talking up. This is a classic 1967 slice of vinyl from Clarence Carter.
The song to note here is "Tell Daddy," which was his first R&B chart hit. The song would later be recorded by Etta James as "Tell Mama" but it was Carter who wrote it and first recorded it.
This single comes a year before he signed to Atlantic and had his huge hit "Slip Away" and his maudlin '70 hit "Patches." It's a cool up tempo groove that flipped with " "I Stayed Away Too Long."
