Another Side of Bob Dylan is the strangest of his LPs released before his 1966 motorcycle accident. Allegedly, it was recorded in one single late night wine-fueled session, most likely contributing to its brilliant form of haphazardry. There are many things to like about it. It features at least three of his most dazzling songs to date in the tender "To Ramona," the prophetic "My Back Pages," and the vicious "It Ain't Me Babe." This is easily Dylan's best LP up to this point, one that clearly shows him breaking with his more direct and topical form of lyrical protest. He also more clearly embraces popular song forms, even though each performance is still acoustic (except "Black Crow Blues," which has Dylan tinkling the ivories). Given the serious tone and lyrical content of his previous two albums, Another Side reveals the 'hip' side of Dylan, especially on the opener "All I Really Want to Do" and the flipped-out "Motorpsycho Nitemare," which reveals his extensive grasp (and appreciation) of popular culture. He can also be especially mournful with naked honesty, ala "Ballad in Plain D." While a fan favorite track is "My Back Pages," because it foreshadows future masterpieces like "It's Alight, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)" and "Gates of Eden," the highlight for most listeners is the closer, "It Ain't Me Babe." On this performance, Dylan instantly transforms himself from folk troubadour to pop-rock king, churning out a song that's brutally frank in its rejection of romantic projection in relationships. Another Side is of the highest order. Though often overlooked or ignored in discussions of Dylan's best long-players, Another Side of Bob Dylan is definitely worth considering !

CONDITION: The cover is very strong, and white (usually found with dirt or soil), "EX" (excellent)... there is a very light sticker stain at top right corner, but very light and not noticable unlerss looking for it. Seams are tight, back cover with lyrics is M-
