The very scarce first pressing 1970 original second album by the psych band AORTA ...these cats had a one LP deal with Columbia afterwich refused to die and found the small Texan based Happy Tiger to release their second and final album ...
Though it is almost completely different from that first, overtly psychedelic album (no psych in sight on this one) -- overall AROTA's sound is similar across the whole LP, but the individual style used on each cut is all over the place. Present are elements of rural rock, folk rock, rural rock, blues rock, Latin flavored rock, and even some fairly loud hard rock, all on one album. It is very different, but a strong grower in it's own right.
Dropped by Columbia Records after releasing an album and a single, the band underwent a series of personnel changes that saw original drummer Billy Harman and bassist Bobby Jones replaced by former Rotary Connection members Tom Dolinger and Mike Been. Picked up by the small Southern California-based Happy Tiger label, 1970 saw the revamped band release the cleverly titled "Aorta 2". All but abandoning their earlier psych leanings, track such as "Willie Jean", "Little Bonnie" and "Sandcastles" offered up a mix of rock and rural-rock sounds. Curiously, several of the compositions including "Beg For His Forgiveness", "His Faith In Man" and "Devil, Maggot & Son" Taken on their own the efforts weren't half bad, and actually full of of nice harmony vocals and engaging melodies that grow well with repeat listens. This time around it was the atypical numbers that provided the highlights. The furious rocker "Beg for His Forgiveness" probably came the closest to recapturing the debut's meltdown sound, while "Pickin' Blues" was an solid boogie/blues number.

CONDITION: The cover is solid, VG++ just a little small shelf wear was starting (nothing near bad at all), the seams are tight, no bends, no writing...promo sticker on back cover
The vinyl (promotional print on label) is all glossy clean and smooth "EX" (excellent) plays minty TOP level
