RARE very first pressing, original British 1974 VIRGIN RECORDS issue in beautiful full laminated gatefold cover... TOP minty clean condition, should be of interest to more than a few when considering how hard the UK press original has gotten to come by...Formed in 1972 and named after a motorway road sign, Hatfield & The North were one of the most original and musically adventurous English bands of the 1970s. The group wrote and played fearlessly creative music, became a legend with music fans in Europe, America and Japan, but broke up in 1975 just as its reputation began to build. Perhaps the best-loved of the so-called 'Canterbury' bands, Hatfield's music was a unique blend of its four members' ideas and compositions. The first Hatfield and The North album reflects this rich diversity, combining the dreamy lyrical songs of Richard Sinclair, Phil Miller's intricate jazz-tinged progressive melodies, Dave Stewart's complex instrumentals and the free-flowing compositions of Pip Pyle, who also contributed the touching autobiographical song 'Fitter Stoke Has A Bath'. During its brief life span, the group recorded two highly acclaimed albums (this one, Hatfield & The North and The Rotters' Club), played numerous live gigs and recorded four BBC radio shows.

CONDITION: The beautiful glossy gatefold cover is clean and smooth "EX" (excellent) to M- ith NO bends, no seam splits and no writing...upgraded copy!
The vinyl is "EX" (excellent) to M- TOP clean, has only some minor nothing plastic lined sleeve marks that are not audible. Plays enjoyable M- clean....
