Description

Up for bid is one of the great classic jazz albums, Clifford Brown Memorial Album, on Blue Note 1526. It has the Lexington Avenue address, "Deep Groove", RVG, and " ear mark " on the label. I know that this is important to a lot of people. The bottom seam of the cover is torn along the bottom edge and their is a 6 inch tear along the left edge. The front of the cover has scruff marks; however, the colors are still vibrant and it has a decent shine. The back of the cover is in nice shape. I would rate the cover VG -. I played the record on a fairly high quality Sony system and it played very well except that I heard  a couple of skips on "Brownie Speaks". Neither of the skips occurs during Clifford Brown's great solo. Other than this, the album played beautifully and I would rate the album VG+ except for the skips. The record has some dust on it ;however, I don't want to risk cleaning the record. Maybe with a little cleaning the skips on "Brownie Speaks will go away, but I don't think so. I believe that these recordings were made in 1953 when Clifford Brown was only 22 years old. That's almost 60 years ago. I find it difficult to grasp how someone so young could play with such technical ability and passion so long ago. What a loss! I offer this album at a very reasonable price because of the imperfection. As I said, except for the imperfection on "Brownie Speaks",this is one great album.
