Description

For auction is CLIFFORD BROWN "Memorial," on Prestige PR 7055, MONO, DG, E.50th, RVG, 1st Press, 1956. With Gigi Gryce, Benny Golson, Percy Heath, Jo Jones, Art Farmer, others.

SOUND: NM

It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to both sides completely. I am absolutely delighted by the playback! Only the most minimal, soft surface noise here or there (if you strain to hear it!) Nothing else to discuss! Terrific, clean, solid sound! A brilliant listen!

VINYL: NM

Visually, the vinyl looks beautiful! Side B appears darn-near perfect! Side A has a couple very faint, completely superficial scuffs, and a number of faint little smudges. I'm being super-critical. Overall, it doesn't get too much better. The deep-grooved labels are beautiful as well! These are gold/black "fireworks," with the "E. 50th St." address. Exceptionally clean and in excellent condition!

The matrices/runouts are etched: (A[A tilted 90°] RVG PRLP-7055-A AB // A[A tilted 90°] RVG PRLP-7055 B AB). This is a true first pressing in fabulous condition.

JACKET: VG

The top center edge has a 2-inch split, and so does the center spine. All else solid, with minor, routine wear. A tiny bit of paper torn from bottom edge. Corners are nice, with minor wear. The front laminated cover is in very nice condition, with a touch of minor aging around the periphery. The back has a "promo" stamp upper left, and a little torn paper upper left also. Otherwise, very nice, with routine, minor aging/wear.

The photos are of the exact record up for bids. Look before you bid, ask if you want any additional info or pics.

The condition of the vinyl and the playback will leave you breathless. A gem of a record!

No reserve, bidding starts at $60.

Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability.

Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.

If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction. I'm not a collector, nor an audiophile, but I think they are desirable if you're into this kind of material.  Click "see other items" and thanks for looking!
