Here is a copy of Coheed and Cambria's first full length LP. Released in 2002 when the band hadn't reached the popularity level they're currently enjoying, it was released on a small independent label, and any copies that surface these days are getting snapped up like hot buns; only 500 of these were pressed in Germany, licensed from their US-based label, Equal Vision. This is crucial to any C&C collection as the first part of Coheed and Cambria's conceptual story arc and the logical starting point for any fan of the band.  No need to get into the music; if you're buying this on vinyl, you're already a fan.

This is a nice, clean copy. The vinyl has some evidence of being played and some paper scuffing that can be seen when held up to the light; I have seen a lot of brand new out of the shrink vinyl lately with such scuffs/discoloration. Overall plays clean and quiet, but there is a little bit of crackle in the lead-in grooves on both sides. The record plays cleanly otherwise without any major surface noise, hence the grading to account for the little bit of crackle when you drop the needle. The cover is clean and crisp, with only a very slight corner ding from storage on the top corner (see photos) and some beginnings of storage wear around the corners (also see photos) and some rubbing on the top seam (but not a split yet) - see the photos. I take care of my records and play them on a Music Hall turntable with a Grado Red cartridge with a fresh stylus. The record includes the insert in nice shape also (no pinholes, tape, etc) I need to pay some bills and a new alternator for the car, and thus I am passing it along.



Grading:

NM
Near Mint; you buy a new record, crack the seal, take it out and play it. This record is near mint. So is any other record that looks as good as that. Perfectly clean, only the slightest minuscule paper scuffs allowed.

EX
Excellent; an intermediate grade that I use, due to there being too much of a gap between VG+ and NM. A really clean record that has been played a bit. A countable number of small scuffs is OK as is some slight storage wear, but no scratches that you could feel with a fingernail, dings, bent corners. A lovely record.

VG+ / VG / VG-
Very Good; a record that has seen use and play but is still a solid copy. At the top end of the scale, scuffing, a surface scratch or two could be present as well as corner dings or small defects that don't at all diminish a record's playability. At the low end of the scale, a few larger scratches could be present as well as intermittent surface noise, but the record should still be enjoyable. Sleeves may have some ringwear or some seam splits. Even the worst VG- shouldn't stick or skip anywhere, though.

G
Good; not for purists. Can have any of a number of noticeable defects. No skips, but bigger scratches that cause clicks, slight warps that don't affect play, louder surface noise, etc. Cover may have bigger splits, water stains, ringwear and other more noticeable defects.

F
Fair; this could have a warp that makes the needle jump or have totally split seams or any number of bigger defects that warrant a record not qualifying as "good." A fair copy is one that's at least partially playable and enjoyable to some degree. Generally the only time you'd see this is either a very exotic record from countries where stuff is usually trashed, or a whipped copy of something mega-rare. Anything else in this shape is unsellable.

Poor; since I'd consider a record in this condition to be unsellable, this is here for theoretical purposes only.
