Deluxe Ltd Edition Gold is the Metal plus artwork
A chance to acquire a deluxe boxed set art edition of the Coil album Gold is the Metal
Released in 1988, this was a very limited edition of 55, and this is copy number 54
This was released by the Threshold House label with the catalogue number LOCI 3
The box measures 36cm by 40.cm and looks like a hardcover book with
a black linen cover and an 8-pointed star embossed on the front in gold.
This cover opens like a book to reveal a wallet section on the right hand side
This contains three numbered art prints in a lacquer sealed folder, two posters, a booklet of art and collage designed by John Balance, a credits insert, a signed and numbered certificate
The album is pressed on clear vinyl, and the outer sleeve has no text on the front cover and is finished with gold leaf where text appears on the regular edition
The set also includes a copy of THE WHEEL / THE WHEAL 7" single
NB this box set has been in storage since purchase in 1988
Minor dust marks are apparent on the black linen cover of the box
OTHERWISE the condition of the outer box is very good
The 2 posters are in excellent condition
The album and single, have never been played, hence MINT condition
The art booklet has 3 slight tears to the central cut-out of cover
Otherwise the booklet is in very good condition
The 3 A3 size numbered art prints have been removed from original plastic sleeve
provided with the package, and small imperfections have occurred due to it
“sticking” in small areas
A3 Plastic wallet containing A3 artwork sheets NB Purple colour from front picture has ‘bled’ onto
the inside of this wallet and has produced an imprint of the image
OTHERWISE these three art prints are in excellent condition
The certificate is signed by Stephen Thrower, Peter Christopherson and John Balance
This certificate has artwork at the top, which has suffered from minor imperfections where the paint stuck to a piece of black paper in the package, otherwise very good condition
The black paper sealed folder is still intact, ie the wax seal has not been broken
The art work and paper slip into this from the top or bottom
Obviously the package has imperfections but this is a very rare and desirable item
The item will be packed extremely solidly to reach the winning bidder in the same condition as it leaves me
