Jazz Side 1 - Track 1. Joy Side 1 - Track 2. Landscape Of Dreams Side 1 - Track 3. Where I'm Loved Side 2 - Track 1. When The Dust Settles Side 2 - Track 2. God's By Your Side
After his last two full-lengths in 2024 - The Almighty, an inward meditation on the divine, and The World Is on Fire, turning outward with 'Amerikkka the Ugly' and 'Ahmaud Arbery' - 'Joy' emerges as Chicago soul-jazzor Isaiah Collier's first release since: five-track EP on Division 81, and the first recorded without his band The Chosen Few. A subject pivot, where The World Is On Fire commentated sociopolitical rupture in real time, 'Joy' is a hard-earned riposte to that position. The title track sways softly through unclouded instrumental skies, and keep-on-moving brass and accompaniments, building a landscape of embrace, reassurance and affirmation in and of the now.
