(VERY EARLY)!!!!!!AWESOME AUDIO GRADES AT THE VERY TOP! !BARELY EVER PLAYED! NEAR MINT AUDIO THROUGHOUT!!CRISTAL CLEAR AND VIBRANT! SO RARE IN THIS AWESOME CONDITION!!!!! THIS ALBUM WILL BE HARD TO SURPASS!!!!UNBELEIVABLE FOR 38 YEARS OLD!!!!

THIS IS FROM MY PERSONAL COLLECTION, THAT I HAVE ACCUMILATED OVER THE YEARS OF COLLECTING VINYL, THIS ALBUM HAS BEEN IN MY PERSONAL POSSESION FOR AT LEAST 30 YEARS AND HAS BEEN STORED IN A CASE WITH THE VINYL SEPERATED FROM THE SLEEVE AND COVER FOR PRESERVATION! THIS IS HOW I HAVE ALWAYS STORED MY RECORDS!

Colosseum is a British progressive rock band formed in 1968 by drummer Jon Hiseman, tenor sax player Dick Heckstall-Smith and bass player Tony Reeves, who had previously worked together in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers. Dave Greenslade, on (organ), was immediately recruited, and the line-up was completed by Jim Roche on (guitar). Roche only recorded one track before being replaced by James Litherland, (guitar and vocals)!!!

Colosseum made their live debut in Newcastle and were promptly recorded by influential BBC Radio One DJ John Peel for his Top Gear Radio program. This appearance gained them valuable exposure and critical acclaim.

Colosseum's first album, Those Who Are About To Die Salute You, was released by the Fontana label in 1969. Colosseum's second album, also in 1969, was Valentyne Suite, notable as the first release from Vertigo Records, the first label to sign heavy metal pioneers Black Sabbath. Vertigo Records was a branch of Philips, established to sign and develop artists that did not fit the main Philips Records brand.

Dave "Clem" Clempson replaced James Litherland for the third album, The Grass Is Greener, released in 1970 and only in the United States. Mark Clarke then replaced Tony Reeves on bass, and Hiseman recruited vocalist Chris Farlowe to enable Clempson to concentrate on guitar. This is considered to be the definitive Colosseum line-up, which recorded the 1970 album Daughter of Time!!!!

After the band split, Jon Hiseman formed Tempest with bassist Mark Clarke; Dave Greenslade formed Greenslade with Tony Reeves; Clem Clempson joined Humble Pie; Chris Farlowe joined Atomic Rooster; and Dick Heckstall-Smith embarked on a solo career.

Hiseman reformed the group as Colosseum II in 1975, with a stronger orientation towards jazz-fusion rock and a new lineup, featuring guitarist Gary Moore, and Don Airey on keyboards. Colosseum II released four albums before disbanding in 1978.

In March 1971, the band recorded its concerts at the Big Apple in Brighton and at Manchester University. Hiseman was impressed with the atmosphere at the Manchester show, and the band returned five days later for a free concert that was also recorded. The recordings were released as a live double album in 1971, Colosseum Live, shortly before the original band broke up!!!!.

The labels.

The original labels are awesome condition features the swirl on side a. and the swirl logo and track listings on side b.(only early press)!!!!! All rights.... are featured around the label rim(only early press)!!!!!!! very minimal amount of spidering can be seen in strong light and (NO) spindle ware  which indicates that this has not been overplayed or indeed looks barely ever played!!!very (very) rare for an album that is 38 years old!!!!!

The vinyl.

The vinyl is absolutely superbe on initial visual inspection this looks absolutely awesome I CAN'T SEE A BLEMISH AT ALL!!! and still retains its sheen from new!!!!!! (please note this vinyl has (not) been over played at all !!!! nor are there any signs of grooveware or distortion!!!! i have played this through track for track and the audio quality is superbe cristal clear and extreemely vibrant!!THIS WILL BE HARD TO FIND BETTER!! Visually there are very (very) few surface marks\scuffs infact i can barely see one (no)scratches when held in very strong light (no) needle scratches audio sounding at least i couldn't see any even in extreeme light, at least (none) that effect the audio at all!!! I have played this track through a couple of times and i never heard any problems.The audio on this pressing in my opinion is as good as it gets for a very early  pressing!!!!!Even in between tracks there is extreemely minimal noise!!! This almost plays as new!! THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS THAT I HEARD WHAT SO EVER ABSOLUTELY STUNNING SEPERATION TOP TOP AUDIO!!(NO) CLICKS OR POPS AND CERTAINLY (NO) SKIPS OR JUMPS!! I would class myself as highly critical and this is a truly exceptional sounding vinyl and the 1st by this awesome band ''COLOSEUM''!!!!!!!! Please check my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right!!!

The cover.

This is the original 1ST PRESS BRONZE gatefold (non) laminated cover VERY HARD TO FIND IN THIS AWESOME CONDITION!  this cover is superbe with only very (very) light rubbing at the spine and edges which can only be seen if looked for in extreeme light! Any creases can only be spotted at the rear and are only really noticable if you really are looking for them (very) minimal storage ware, hardly any to the corners and spine (see photo) Amaizingly (no) ringware at all that i can see superbe condition of this 1st pressing cover which is nearly 37 years old!!!!!!!! This 1st press cover is in Exceptional Top! condition to be seen of this pressing truly awesome(see photo)

The record sleeve.

This is the original swirl polythene lined record sleeve patented and made in england. with (no) splits and or tares!!!very light general creases light staining with age!! can just be seen in photo (please note this is stored seperately from the vinyl!!!!!!(please look at the photos) I have taken photos of both sides of the original sleeve so that all aspects can be clearly seen!!!!!! absolutely superbe!!!!!

Please do not underestemate the rarety of this 1st pressing in this condition, they are rarely seen like this!!!!!!!
