Colosseum : Daughter Of Time 1Y3 / 2Y1 2nd press 1971 Vertigo
This second pressing is the finest example I have ever listened to and plays with stunning clarity, depth and power on both sides with literally no interference. A couple of super quiet statics on S1 that is all! Based on the audio, the very clean vinyl and that there is hardly any spindle wear it is obvious this vinyl has only been lightly played. It is easily a FINAL UPGRADE archive pressing.
The gatefold is in excellent condition and the only 'real' issue is a small mark on the inside. The Vertigo inner (dated 1070) is in superb shape with barely any wear.
This second pressing has a small Vertigo swirl logo on the labels and a 1Y3 / 2Y1 matrix.

Visual description
The vinyl is in superb condition with a lovely glossy sheen and no marks or scratches. Under a bright light I can only see a few very faint hairlines and it clearly has not been played very much. The Vertigo labels have no marking and hardly any spindle wear.
Play grading
The intro on 'Three Score And Ten, Amen' plays with great clarity and depth and Farlowe's first verse / chorus are of the same standard. So far so far with no background whatsoever. Clempson's solo is perfect and the quieter vocal towards the end is 'as new' and the final high powered vocal has no intrusion either. No distortion at all and a perfect fade out. This is without question a Mint start to the album.
The 'orchestral' opening on 'Time Lament' is so so close to perfect with only a couple of very quiet statics and the opening vocal section has no background at all. You can see why Colosseum went from a mainly instrumental jazz / rock outfit to one including more vocals as Farlowe definitely adds a different dimension to their 'sound', an almost West End show vocal as I like to say! Instrumentals still a very important part of course and the next extended one plays with stunning clarity and power. The end vocal is just as strong and overall this deserves a Mint- grade.
The piano intro on 'Take Me Back To Doomsday' can be described 'as new' and this time Clempson's first vocal plays perfectly as does the first chorus. It continues in the same precise way - the warmth and depth of the audio is so impressive and there is not one single negative. Outstanding sonic quality from start to finish. Mint
'The Daughter Of Time' plays with that usual Colosseum power and class through every vocal and instrumental section. Such a versatile band. As I said you can just imagine this on the West End stage when you listen to the vocal which incidentally plays clear and strong with no distortion. A superb Mint version.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The opening chorus on 'Theme For An Imaginary Western' is stunning and the first verse again plays with impeccable clarity and it's difficult to put into words just how 'clean' the audio is. The next chorus is just as impressive and this high end standard is kept up as it progresses. It's such a good track and I am confident in grading it as Mint and that includes the fade. Can't forget the fade outs!
More typical of their earlier incarnation 'Bring Out Your Dead' plays with exceptional quality through every section. It is Mint there is no need to elaborate.
The sax intro on 'Downhill And Shadows' plays with incredible clarity and the opening vocal section is equally as good. The mid instrumental is flawless and again what strikes you is the sheer depth and resonance of the audio. This record has been so well looked after! Clarke's bass is so strong and deep here and the final vocal is has no background. Again. The closing instrumental is the same and Mint is deserved.
The live version of Hiseman's 'The Time Machine' plays with phenomenal audio through every section. One of the top drummers in my opinion and it really shows off his skills. Yes I played the entire 8+ minutes and the clarity and power of the audio is superb, no intrusion at all. It certainly shows off his skills and stamina! The frenetic section towards the end is STUNNING! Maybe it should have been reserved for a live album but there is no denying the sound quality and Mint is again a fair assessment of the audio.
The Gatefold & Vertigo Inner Sleeve
The cover is in excellent condition with only a little shelf wear. The edges have minimal rubbing and the wide spine has retained its shape perfectly with barely any wear, the corners are very clean. The bottom right corners have some light wear and top right only a tiny 'rub'. The opening edge is close to perfect with just one minor 'crimp' and the front cover is in lovely condition with only minor rubbing near the bottom edge and a small corner crease bottom right. The back cover just has some minor specks top left and a couple of other minor spots. The inside of the gatefold is very clean apart from one mark on the left panel where I assume it has stuck to the other panel. The right panel has hardly been affected though. A very strong example overall.
The Vertigo inner is in superb condition and you won't find many cleaner. It has no side splits or tears, hardly any creasing and only the bare minimum of age related fading mainly on the top edge. Couple of tiny spots also.

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping. This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage. The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered. Any over-payment will always be refunded.
The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD). An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known. Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing. Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask. Many thanks.
All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection. They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection. I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.
The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each. There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up! Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
