Description
Here's a great Philadelphia northern soul 45-I Know I Love You b/w Lady, Lady by the Colt 45's on Jerry Records (no. 119).
Unfortunately, this record has some issues which must be considered. The “Lady, Lady†side has a cluster of scratches starting at the outer rim and ending about half way across the grooved area. It doesn't skip, however. There is also a crescent shaped area along the rim as would have been exposed if another record was on top of it, but shifted to the side by about 3/8 inch. In this exposed area, the surface has lost its gloss and in some areas has somehow acquired a pebbled texture. My guess would be that some sort of fabric or other textured material was in contact with it, and perhaps due to a chemical reaction over a long period of time, it affected the surface of the record. It is seen only on one side, and there is no warping there. The scratches are very pronounced on the silent lead-in grooves, and the dull area produces a swish sound. Once the music starts, however, these problems are much less obvious and are really only present for about the first 20 seconds of the song, and it's a loud record. The other side does not have the same problems. The record has an almost imperceptible storage warp that doesn't affect play. There is writing on both labels, as you can see.

Overall, with the problems noted, I would grade it as a VG- (VG minus) record. Manship lists this disc as amongst his “rarest of the rareâ€, so it's not one you will see every day, and one that is worth considering as a “player†that you can enjoy without worry. I'm selling this for a friend and he felt there should be a reasonable reserve on it, as he has local collectors who are interested as well.
First class shipping to the US will be $1.59 and air mail to the UK will be $5.05 (in a standard 45 mailer).
