Description

Original first (1959) U.S. pressing on prestige 7158 mono and deep groove both sides; visual grade on this thickly stamped vinyl a tough little bugger this one. Superficial surface swirls (see photos) - yet, non-feelable - no skips, no 'tics', enjoyable set surface marks both sides but play-graded VG+

An original Prestige pressing with RVG hallmark from the original 1959 stampers; hand etched prestige "PRLP-7158" dead wax. This original pressing as with most early jazz label (Prestige, Blue Note, Riverside) stamped on thick vinyl plays remarkably well despite visual grade  on my vintage Thorens' Grado mono cart.

Certainly nothing close to audiophile quality here, so expect surface noise but at low levels with plenty of "punch through" playback - but not priced as such either; this LP plays enjoyably so, Coltrane and others make this cool swingin' jazz LP it. Cover not so great - seam splits; toned edges; spine rough a it, but lovely glossy front paste down cover. Overall, a really enjoyable set on the first 1959 US pressing; All my vintage vinyl is guaranteed which means if you can't live with it then return for a complete refund. I stand behind all my vintage jazz records ; this record is playing as I type and it sounds swinging good- very enjoyable and at full volume with little distortion...
