JOHN COLTRANE BLUE NOTE BLP 1577 album
ULTRA RARE MONO *BLUE TRAIN*-Ear in dead wax
RVG ORIGINAL, DEEP GROOVE-beautiful shape
ALBUM: NEAR MINT. NO noticable wear. AUDIBLY SOUND GRADED with CLEAR VIBRANT EXCELLENT SOUND. Gets highest rating for an UNSEALED, opened record.
COVER: MINT- Beautiful laminated front cover with nice color, strong seams, sharp corners (one scuffed slightly) and perfect spine. Opening edge is perfect, this LP has rarely been used. NO RING WEAR, brown spots on back cover w/ 1/4" red ink mark.

Offered for sale is a very clean, very rare early Blue Note release, rarely if ever played by my dad (and once by me). Originally purchased by dad who collected lots more than he ever listened . He tended to pile up the old Sinatra records onto the spindle and let them play all night for the occassional party, and leave the good stuff for later if ever. The fact that the cover is SO Mint with no edge wear shows how little use this album has seen. Incidentally, I will be listing his entire collecton in the weeks to follow, so stay tuned.
Original pressing has 47 West 63rd street address, the heavy vinyl has deep grooves on both sides, RVG and the famous "ear" stamped in the dead wax on both sides. Any Blue Note collector will be happy with this LP, certainly one of Coltrane's best. As far as the sound, it's beautifully crystal clear, has absolutely NO BACKGROUND NOISE, is completely silent over the sound breaks it sounds like the day it was recorded but I have to say, with full disclosure, I wasn't there so I don't know for sure.

"Among 'serious' Blue Note collectors, there are two sorts of records which are in highest demand - monos and 'deep grooves'. The former is self-explanatory; the latter are records in which there is a concentric groove in the label, about two-thirds of the way from the center hole. Price wise, for original pressings in excellent condition, mono/deep grooves are usually the most expensive, more expensive than stereo releases, and stereo/deep grooves are more expensive than stereo/non-deep groove. As far as prices these days, mint condition original pressing Blue Notes now commonly fetch prices starting at $100 and go up from there, depending in part upon rarity." (and that was in 1997!)
