DAVE BRUBECK * Time Out * Wohl die meisten ernsthaften Musikliebhaber und auch die Gelegenheitshörer müssten mit dem Dave Brubeck Quartett vertraut sein, oder doch mindestens davon gehört haben, wenn auch vielleicht unwissentlich - denn der bekanneste Track, "Take Five", hat die Soundtracks vieler Filme geschmückt, darunter "Geliebte Aphrodite", "Pleasantville" und "Constantine". Das Stück ist berühmt sowohl wegen seiner charakteristischen eingängigen Saxophon-Melodie als auch wegen des untypischen 5/4-Takts - derart charakteristisch, dass dieses Jazz-Stück zum Pop-Hit wurde.
"Time Out" vom Brubeck Quartett mitsamt dem Super-Hit "Take Five" ist ein Klassiker sowohl des Jazz als auch der Audiophilen, in jede Plattensammlung gehört ein Exemplar. Und jetzt veröffentlicht Analogue Productions die endgültige Edition auf 200g Premium-Vinyl, mit 45UpM bei Quality Record Pressings hergestellt (Acoustic Sounds eigenem, von der Industrie gelobten LP-Presswerk).
Wieso endgültig? Diese absolut störungsfreihe Doppel-LP, bei der die Musik auf vier Seiten verteilt ist, reduziert Verzerrungen sowie Verluste hoher Frequenzen, weil durch die größeren Abstände zwischen den Rillen der Stereoabtaster der Spur besser folgen kann. Aber auch weitere Details neben dem Vinyl machen diese Veröffentlichung zu etwas Besonderem. Zum ersten Mal in seiner Geschichte wird "Time Out" hier mit einer luxuriös ausgestatteten Hülle präsentiert. Im Innern finden sich acht fantastische Schwarz-Weiß-Fotos, die damals während der Aufnahmesession in Columbias berühmten 30th Street Studios entstanden sind. Sony Music hat Acoustic Sounds die Bilder für deren SACD-Wiederauflage zur Verfügung gestellt und auch die Verwendung für die LP-Wiederauflage gestattet.
Virtually all serious and even casual music lovers ought to be familiar with, or at least are likely to have heard The Dave Brubeck Quartet, even without realizing it — for the quartet's best-known hit "Take Five" has graced the soundtracks of multiple films, including "Mighty Aphrodite", "Pleasantville" and "Constantine".
The piece is famous for its distinctive, catchy saxophone melody, as well as its use of unusual 5/4 time — so distinctive, it's a rare jazz track that became a pop hit.

And now, cut at 45 RPM on 200-gram premium vinyl, pressed at Quality Record Pressings (Acoustic Sounds' own industry-lauded LP manufacturer), Analogue Productions brings you the definitive copy.
Why definitive? The dead-quiet double-LP, with the music spread over four sides of vinyl, reduces distortion and high frequency loss as the wider-spaced grooves let your stereo cartridge track more accurately. But it's more than just the vinyl that makes this release so special. For the first time in its history, "Time Out" is presented here packaged in a deluxe gatefold jacket. Inside are eight fantastic black and white images shot during the recording session at Columbia's famous 30th Street Studios. Sony Music supplied the images for use in our SACD reissue, and gave us permission to use them in our LP reissue as well.
The jacket is also special — very heavy-duty. It's produced for us by Stoughton Printing featuring a printed wrap mounted to a heavyweight chipboard shell, producing an authentic 'old school' look and feel. This jacket is a beauty! Never has "Time Out's" colorful iconic cover art looked so vibrant.
