COLUMBIA SAX 2473/74 ER1 - MAHLER Symphony No2 -KLEMPERER

This is one of a number of vinyl records from the 1950’s & 60’s listed this week which we no longer listen to. Little played, the records are still in very good condition, the covers sometimes less so.

Gradings are based on the “Record Collector Magazine's Guide” set out in the eBay Guides together with notes about condition added. Extracts from the Gramophone Magazine review written at the time of the record’s release are included, with the permission of the publishers, where these are available.

RECORD GRADING

EXCELLENT

Both records look as if they have hardly ever been played. There is a very feint hairline on side 3 but I could not hear an unwanted sound to associate with it. There is hardly a mark anywhere, other than some light sleeve rubbings, on any of the four sides

There are almost no spindle marks on any of the labels and all four sides play excellently with very little surface sound, just a very occasional light tick – probably dust

The sound quality throughout is stunning.

COVER GRADING

EXCELLENT

Both covers are in outstandingly good condition; completely unmarked. I cannot fault either of them

Both the ‘Outstanding Artists’ inner sleeves are also excellent; they are unmarked and almost without creases, just a shade age discoloured

The packet will be sent with the appropriate level of insurance cover for its final auction price.
