Description
An awesome combination of funk, hard latin beats afro funk and soul.
Original issue LP from Chile. Most were destroyed by the Military regime and hence it sits a top the rarity list as MEGA HARD to find (The original master tapes were destroyed too!!!).
Record is in VG+ condition and the sleeve is in EX- condition (a letter written on the cover, see picture).
"A great and rare vinyl lp titled "el combo xingu", edited in chile-peru ( library ) ... this is what we can call " rare grooves ", but serious here! Highly recommended, for the connoisseur! enjoy their wild organ, frantic guitar, screaming horns section...
So, killer essential latin funk dope, contains "Bring Down The Birds","Black Power" ...some versions of santana, led zepellin & the famous james brown cover with a version of JB's "Hot Pants".
A wicked Latin groover -- with lots of American funky touches! Xingu were an obscure 70s South American combo, but they clearly heard plenty of funky 45s from the US -- as the best tracks on this set have them grooving in a style that recalls the best of The Meters, The Nite-Liters, and other North American funk acts! The album features an insane instrumental funk remake of Led Zeppelin's "Moby Dick" -- complete with a breaking drum solo -- and also includes great versions of "Hot Pants", "Tanga Boo Gonk", and "Black Power" -- plus the smoking originals "493 West" and "Baja A Las Chiquillas".
My best dj track is " 493 west " a serious dancefloor bomb !!!" (source: groovecollector.com, value G that means more than 500 euros for an original copy in M- condition)
