CONEXION NO 5 Argentina '69 acid fuzz psych original LP

Original 1969 pressing of this scarce Argentinian LP by Conexion No. 5 on the RCA VIK label.  This obscure combo fills their album with covers, and plays it safe for the most part, despite their groovy suits and the trippy way they spell "Conexion".  But sure as form follows funxion, the fraxion of Conexion's album that goes for the paisley-hued throat only proves what a monster album this COULD have been had they let loose a little more often, joining the ranks of the Kissing Spells, Embrujos and other South American monster psych albums.  But that's a big "if" - Conexion suffers from the same predilexion that many unknown but chart-conscious South American bands did - do a bunch of popular covers that have already been done to death by every other band and hope for a hit.  The most successful ones here include their pounding freakbeat circus band cover of "Red Balloon", and a pretty lively take on the bubblegum pop chestnut "Chewy Chewy", which is given a "fake live" treatment with canned applause and cheering, and was also released as a single.  But before you go ahead and make a bid retraxion, let me just say you absolutely NEED to hear Conexion's INCREDIBLE killer version of "Hey Joe" - yeah, THAT "Hey Joe" - and even though you've heard over 600 versions of this song from every nation on the planet save Chad, the Conexion version is, if I may be so bold, the best version EVER.  I know, there's probably an additional 500 versions I haven't heard yet, but hear me out - Conexion's version is played slower and trippier, using Hendrix's version as a template over the Leaves' - only the guitarist seems to be drunk.  In other words, his playing is totally freeform, out of control really.  Wriggling and wrestling short random explosions of electric fuzz that make little sense in the musical sense, he turns a simple garage song into something alive, unpredictable and growing.  And if that weren't enough, the guy behing the mixing board has also been dipping into the margueritas, randomly bringing the fuzz guitarist's levels up and down, fading in and out with no rhyme or reason, occasionally mixing him up so loud the tape crackles with electric distortion and feedback.  All of which forces the vocalist to raise his voice to the level of primal scream, wailing and shrieking along with the insanity that's brewing behind him.  As the song ends, it actually starts running BACKWARD, like the end of the Beatles "Rain".  Now, if this aint the BEST version of "Hey Joe" you've ever heard, it certainly has the distinxion of being the most INSANE - and had the whole LP, or even a bigger sexion of it, been more like THIS, you'd be refinancing right now.  But for one brief moment, Conexion found the sound, and makes this album well worth picking up.  And that's a fact, not fixion.  Original 1969 mono pressing on the Argentinian RCA label.  Cover's in VG++ shape, vinyl plays VG+ with minor surface noise.  Winning bidder pays $4.00 media mail shipping in the US, $8 air mail to Canada, $14 everywhere else.  Paypal, cash, checks and money orders accepted.  Please be sure to check out my other auctions for more vinyl obscurities, and I will gladly combine shipping costs on multiple wins.
