CSD 1499 ED 1 Bruch Kol Nidrei Jaqueline Du Pre UK HMV Green and Gold Shaded Dog logo Label RARE

Jaqueline Du Pre's First Recording

An extremely Rare record. this was Jaqueline Du Pre's First Record. The green HMV Label was reserved for new Artists to the roster, and one side was by violist Edward Downes, and the other by Du Pre. Not only was being a new artist to the catalogue meant that sales were limited, most of those few that sold were Mono pressing as few people in 1963 had Stereo players, and these factors explain its rarity

On “Music for Viola and Cello”, Jaqueline Du Pre performs on side two of the record, and Violist Herbert Downes, side One, and with others play music by Bruch, Brahms, Falla and others. An English stereo pressing on the HMV Label (CSD 1499 / Matrix / Runout: 2YEA 739-5 & 2YEA 740-2), the record labels are green with plum lettering, a gold Stereophonic and border and a shaded dog logo. The record is of excellent appearance and plays and sounds superb with a minimum of surface noise. The cover has ring wear and a few creases in the laminate, and there is a name in pen on the back.
