Inner Sleeve Condition

Clear plastic “U” shaped Japanese inner sleeve, M-

Lyric Insert Condition

Near mint, a great example, brown and dark cream colored, no tears or bent corners.  Amazing condition for a paper insert of this age.  Would be an easy Near Mint / M- except for a couple of light spots and a few tiny circles drawn around (or next to) the number of some of the song titles.

Gatefold Cover Condition

Cover is in beautiful NEAR MINT (M-) condition.

No seam splits (not even the beginning of seam splits) on this heavy gatefold cover.  There is no spine text on this issue, but if there was, it would be fully readable, there is not even the hint of wear on the spine.  There is no wear to any of the edges (top, bottom or opening side).  There is no ring-wear inside or out, front or back.  There is no spotting or writing or any other problems inside the gatefold.  This cover is in amazing condition.  The sepia-tone photo pasted on the front cover is completely intact and like new, and all of the gold foil writing is completely intact, no wear or rubbing AT ALL.

One can easily distinguish the correct 1st issue cover in at least two (2) ways:

1. On the front/top/center, in gold foil above the Atlantic logo, you will find the 1st issue Japanese catalog/label number, MT2023 in gold foil printing.

2. On the back (bottom left), you will find the correct Japanese Yen price of 2,000.  Also, on the back/bottom/center, the following is pressed into the jacket:

"Manufactured by Nippon Grammophon Co., Ltd, Japan  KI 7007"

Always stored properly, a beautiful example of a classic, early and rare Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young album. 

Easy Near Mint (M-) grade all around for this original 1st issue cover.

Record Condition

The Blue and Green labels are bright and clean.  There are light spindle marks on both labels near the spindle hole when examined at an angle under a bright light.  The vinyl on both sides appears shiny, clean and new looking, with no signs of handling, no scuff marks or any “hairlines”, incredible for this record.  Superb Japanese pressing and plating.  I played this one all the way through today on my VPI/Sumiko Blackbird combo, what an album!  The sound is full-bodied and clear, with only the light surface sound of a record (not “pops” or “clicks”) between tracks.  A great listening experience, a great album and a great pressing.  Because of the spindle marks to the label, I will have to give this example a grade of EX+.  I rarely use that grade, but in this case it has to apply.  It is certainly better than a VG+ record, but I can’t give it a “M-” because of the visual evidence of the light spindle marks on the labels. 

Album was stored in a heavy outer plastic protective cover when I purchased it, and has been stored the same way ever since.

36 years old now…

Notes:  This album is quite rare as a 1st issue on the Blue & Green Atlantic/Nippon-Grammophon label.  It was issued only briefly by Nippon-Grammophon in late 1970, but by early 1971 the rights were sold to Warner-Pioneer who reissued this album in 1971 on the Warner-Pioneer label.  This Atlantic/Nippon-Grammphon release is the original Japan 1st issue of this classic album…

…and a required album for any Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young fan, a rare example!

Packaging:

You will see from my eBay feedback that I package very securely.  Records are removed from jackets to prevent seam-splits, records and covers are placed inside re-sealable plastic outer protective covers, and "sandwiched" between two pieces of cardboard cut to a size larger than the album cover in order to protect the cover from corner-dings during shipping. 

I have not had any problems with damaged records as a result of my own packaging, but I do recommend Insurance on the more expensive items, I cannot be held responsible for what happens to the package after it leaves my possession.

Shipping to the U.S.

Priority shipping for a package weighing anywhere from 2lbs. to 3lbs. is $5.00 to $9.00 depending on your location.  I do not charge a "Handling" fee, shipping calculations will be made using the USPS website  (http://postcalc.usps.gov/) based on your Zip code.
