Unofficial recording, released in 1994, produced in a limited edition of 500 copies. Mainly a Current 93/Dogs Blood Order live album (only the last track is by Death In June).
The first incarnation of Current 93 was formed in 1982, and was known as Dogs Blood Order. Dogs Blood Order apparently played a few shows which showcased lengthy, painfully dark soundscrapes underneath tortured chanting by David Tibet, who intended to use his band as a way to explore his spiritual journeys. By 1983, Dogs Blood Order had become Current 93: Tibet was joined by John Balance of Coil and Fritz Haaman of 23 Skidoo.
The sound quality of the recordings collected in this 10” is not the best, but it doesn't matter here. It includes (track 3/Side A) a classic concert featuring the incredible line up of David Tibet, John Balance and Steve Ignorant. It took place June 16th 1985 at the Neu Konservativ Festival, Israel Hall in Hamburg, Germany. [http://brainwashed.com/c93/htdocs/live/c93-live-16-JUN-1985.php?site=recordings].
John Balance, in an interview in 1998, remembered the show this way:
<< The show lasted approximately 30 minutes, and was part of the two day Neu Konservativ festival. Other groups playing the festival included Laibach. Two large banners, one of the picture from "Nature Unveiled" and one black with red unicursal hexagram, were hung behind the stage. No official recordings of this show have been released, but one track has shown up on the bootleg "Dogs Blood Order" 10". [The third track] was "Great Black Time" as I remember playing it. We had finished the set and there was a long looped tape playing. I decided to get back onstage and so Tibet and I went from the bar at the back of the club/warehouse and we ran back to the stage and I plugged my stickbass in and Tibet sang/screamed. I was ramming my bass against Laibach's speaker cabinets at full volume making almost physical columns and slabs of sound >>.
