Description

Disguised as the Golden Gate Orchestra, the California Ramblers Orchestra play "Lay Me Down to Sleep in Carolina" on Edison Diamond Disc 51851.  There are fine alto sax and bass sax solos.  Adrian Rollini is audible throughout.
Frank Cush, Roy Johnston (tp); Abe Lincoln (tb); Bobby Davis (cl,sop,as); Sam Ruby (ts); Adrian Rollini (bassax); Jack Russin (p); Tommy Felline (bj); Herb Weil (d); Walter Scanlan, James Doherty (vcl); Ed Kirkeby (dir).  Recorded in New York on October 7, 1926.
On the flip side, Jack Albin's Orchestra plays a lively version of "Cover Me Up With Sunshine."  Recorded in New York on October 8, 1926.
This record is in E condition generally on the Ramblers side, and E- condition generally on the Albin side.  On the Ramblers side, there is a blemish of some kind that sounds before the music starts and for about the first five revolutions of the music, during which time it gets softer and then disappears.  The Albin side has a few soft ticks here and there, and a somewhat louder tick (but still not too bad) for about the last 30 seconds of the side.  Please note that this record is vertically recorded and therefore requires special playback equipment.
I'm a longtime collector who is downsizing.  I know how to pack records.
