Description
Up for sale is this 1960 reissue of Cannonball Adderley’s 1958 classic “Somethin’ Else”. One of the greatest Jazz albums of all time.
Pressing information:
I have determined that this is a 1960 pressing due to the following identifiers:
43 W. 61st Street address on back cover.
Blue Note Records INC. 47 W. 63rd labels.
Deep groove on both sides of the record.
Plastylite “ear” in the deadwax on both sides.
“RVG” stamped in the deadwax on both sides.
“9M” in the B side deadwax.
Condition:
Record: Fair
Not a pretty disc. Visually, it looks awful. In classic Blue Note fashion, the disc plays much better than it looks, grading closer to G. Expect surface noise and some occasional light distortion when playing. Despite its flaws, the music is still front and center.
Side A label shows heavy wear, but is still readable.
Cover: Poor
This is the truly rough part of this record. The whole cover is being held together by tape. Heavy creasing to the lamination. The opening of the cover suffers heavy damage. The back cover has heavy wear and staining, including some paper loss. The only reason the cover looks as good as it does is because the lamination managed to preserve the luster somewhat.
So definitely not a pretty copy, but not as bad as it could be. This copy has served me well for a good while now, but it’s time to pass it to a new owner.
