Up for sale is this very rare original mono pressing of Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band's 8 track album from 1968, entitled 'Strictly Personal'
I'm not an expert on grading records so I will describe it as best I can, as honestly as I can. Considering it is 50 years old, it's very impressive. I am the second owner, the original owner is sadly no longer with us but he was a huge fan of the band and bought this brand new back in 1968. He passed it on to me around 10 years ago, I have played it once in that time because I didn't have a turntable at home.
Anyway, the sleeve is nice, the corners are slightly rounded and there is slight wear on the seams. The worst area is unsurprisingly at the bottom seam where the record has spent the last 50 years gently wearing it away, it's minimal though. The colours are still crisp and bright, and the text is still clear, even on the spine. The picture of the band on the inside still looks great, and it's really creepy if I'm honest, it's a great piece of artwork. There is a sticker to the lower left from Harlequin Record Shops, it's actually a quality sticker and I assume has been on there since it was first distributed.
The vinyl itself looks in great condition, It's clearly been played but it has obviously been well looked after with only fine cosmetic blemishes, no actual scratches. This mono pressing is very desirable and isn't always available for purchase. cat number is LBL 83172E.
I've seen these pressings go for over £100 and I don't actually need to sell it, I just want it to go to someone who is as passionate about the band as my friend was.
