Captain Beefheart Safe As Milk LP UK 2nd Issue Pye INT MONO [Ex/Ex] - Nice Audio

Description

A 2nd issue of S.A.M. on the UK Pye INT label from 1968. Matrix A1/B1. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original G&L mono cover with flipbacks and a pinched spine. Also included is the plastic bag warning inner sleeve date coded to '68. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete...All in mono and significantly more affordable than the 1st press only a year earlier!
Vinyl (Ex) In great condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection there are a few marks each side, one or two are semi-feelable, and one does sound - as detailed below.  A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with one noticeable deviation. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. By and large some very nice clean mono audio which does this title maximum justice. Interference is very minor and infrequent. All we could detect were a  few crackles in the odd spot. The only deviation is caused by a mark in 'Sure Nuff'. You're going to get a pop per revolution in the vocal intro to the song [the first 30 seconds]. As soon as the band comes in and it all kicks off - it's gone. Other than that expect an impressive rendition of this seminal 60's work.
Cover (Ex) In great shape and looking far smarter than most 60's covers that surface. Very nice clean and unaged front is exhibiting just a couple of creases in the top left and a couple of thumbnail creases toward the opening. The rear, often the problem area, is looking very smart indeed. It seems to have pretty much entirely avoided the ageing process - impressive. All flipbacks are secure and intact. Edge wear is light and the spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) Bit of ageing, but no splits.
