Captain Beefheart "Safe As Milk" Original UK Pye Mono LP NM Rare.
Captain Beefheart / Don Van Vliet's first album in it's original British Mono issue on Pye. The vinyl quite heavy (weighing 9 oz. on the scale) compared to the US pressing, better sound and mastering. The sleeve is typical UK cardboard of the time, thinner - the front cover as pictured has an arced small crease near the top open corner of the sleeve and a small tear just at the very top with a round yellow sticker over it I didn't remove as it would likely tear the cover more (a record store pricing practice of the time). The LP is pristine, though there is some slight wear to the spindle hole indicting it was played more than once (as pictured). US standards in pressing were low at that time, so these foreign issues were the way to best hear the music of that time. Rarely offered, from the author of the "Goldmine" cover story on Don; Covid wiped out my savings so...
In the case of the Beatles, the mono issues were decidedly superior. In the case of Beefheart (a more limited case), hard to choose...
