Description

Captain Beefheart Safe as Milk LP Buddah Records original BDS 5001 W/ STICKER.


This is a very early stereo pressing of Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band’s “Safe as Milk” LP on Buddah Records. It may be the first stereo pressing though Discogs claims there are multiple label variants so it is hard to know if it is THE first, but it definitely is one of the first releases.


BDS 5001-A and -B in runout grooves.


Cover: VG

There is some wear on the cover as I’ve shown in the photos. Some price sticker still remains as I did not want to risk damaging the sleeve by trying to peel it any further. There is a small seam split at the bottom.


Inner: VG

The inner sleeve has seam splits on the bottom and side as shown in photos. The bumper sticker has a little wear on the front as well as a dog-eared crease on the back with the baby’s head photo.


Record: VG

The vinyl has some scratches, none very deep and nothing that sounds awful. There is some surface noise evident on the quiet sections but nothing overpowering. It was an enjoyable listen when I checked it, and if you have a cleaning machine it would probably take care of a lot of the noise.
