Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band. "Trout Mask Replica". 2 LPs. Stereo. Straight Records. Gatefold Cover. I bought this when it first came out in 1969 and have taken pretty good care of it over the years. The vinyl is VG+/VG++. There are some superficial surface scratches and brush marks that have no effect on playability. There are occasional random surface sounds but, frankly, with this album it is hard to tell if it is actual surface noise or is part of the studio recording method because Mr. Beefheart enjoyed incorporating such sounds into his songs. There is one noticeable scratch mark on "Orange Claw Hammer" that looks as though it could cause a skip but I played it on my stereo a few times and it didn't skip or pop. There is a thin scratch mark on another song, "Dali's Car", that doesn't cause any skips but you can hear a light pop when the needle passes over it. Except as noted above, it plays through perfectly. The gatefold jacket is in at least VG+/VG++ condition with some ring wear on the front but there are no seam splits, rips or tears.
