Description
In 1989 Carl Perkins played at the Pensacola Interstate Fairgrounds and I had to work and couldn't go. My friend Tony had a record store here in town and knew that I was the only person he knew with this original Sun record. He asked if he could borrow it and maybe get it autographed as he was already cleared for backstage with a few other old records that he was going to try and get autographed. When Carl saw the album he said "damn Tony where did you get that?", at which time Tony asked if he would autograph it, Carl said 'hell yes" then Tony handed it to him and he proceeded to autograph the front and rear of the jacket. Not being asked he then took the record out and signed both sides. The original autograph on the front said "To Tony Thanks Carl Perkins" The word "To" on the front "To Tony" has been erased but still barely visible. Small writing on the back cover says "received 12-30-62" as shown in the picture. the top seam is cleanly split but not torn or ripped. The bottom seam is split about 3 inches as shown. I don't know if it ever had any tape on the seams, but if it did it was removed very well and there is no sticky residue where you see the lines on the rear cover. Small name Rena written on the label as shown. The record has some scuffing but still has shine and plays through nicely with minimum noise mostly heard between tracks. Some crackling but nothing overbearing or overriding the music. This record should be in the rock and roll hall of fame or the Smithsonian with it's 4 autographs. I hate to give it up after all these years, but here is your chance to own a piece of history! Thanks for looking.
