Chamaeleon Church-Self Titled.1968 issue on MGM SE 4574 in Shrink ..Lp is in M- looks unplayed, Cover in NM in shrink...
This sole album is full of great flower-power pop with heavenly vocals that will appeal greatly to fans of Left Banke and Cryan' Shames. Prior to Chamaeleon Church, Ted Myers and Kyle Garrahan had been in The Lost and after the band's demise, Myers and Scheuren went on to Ultimate Spinach. Kyle Garrahan too pursued a solo career, whilst Chevy Chase went on to fame and fortune with a career in films.
Apparently their album did not truly represent the bands own "sound". During the recording of the album, for example, the bass drum was given its own track but is all but missing from the final mix - Chevy was apparently "rippin' mad" when he heard the final result.... Producer Alan Lorber had wanted to give them an easy soft-rock feel - a phrase that didn't even exist back then, but which was somewhat akin to Orpheus, who had achieved some success at the time with their blend of soft psych.
Ted Myers later wrote a song around '72 called Going In Circles which was recorded by Three Dog Night as the flip side of one of their biggest hits, The Family Of Man. It also was used in a movie called "X,Y & Z". Later Myers recorded an album with studio musicians, called Glider, a single Your Like A Melody and is now is an A&R Director for Rhino Records. Tony Scheuren went onto to the National lampoon, where he appeared with Chevy in a road company of "Lemmings" (an off broadway spoof on Woodstock written by Tony Hendra). After that he was in some other road shows and appeared regularly on the Radio Hour. Scheuren is also featured on several National Lampoon albums, two of which were grammy nominated..WE ARE AN INDEPENDENT RECORD STORE 80 MIN FROM SACRAMENTO, IF YOUR IN THE AREA STOP BY WE HAVE THOUSANDS OF LP'S, CD'S, POSTERS, BOOKS AND MORE.
