Note there is a very small white circular mark on 1 label, as pictured. This is a 2 record set in a gatefold jacket as pictured. This is the 2nd issue of the record which was only available through mail order. At this time it was privately produced by Mingus. The records were recorded on September 20, 1964 and released as a gatefold issue in 1965. Included are leader, Charles Mingus, bass; Bobby Bryant, Lonnie Hillyer, trumpets; Buddy Collette, alto sax, flute, piccolo; Lou Blackburn, trombone; Charles McPherson, alto sax; Red Callender, bass; John Handy lll, tenor sax; Jack Nimitz, baritone sax, bass clarinet; Dannie Richmond, drums; Jaki Byard, piano. 8 tracks, 2 of these tracks are divided in Parts 1 & 2 and each part is on a separate side. This is probably the 2nd pressing and could only be purchased directly from Charles Mingus by mail order. This information is written at the bottom of the back cover.
Cover: Good(+) 2"split on the top edge of the cover section of the gatefold. Name of previous owner is written on the cover and in the gatefold (see scan). Some moderate edge wear. Light soil and light overall aging.
Record: Mint(-) Visually shows no wear. Played only a very few times with care. 3 or 4 faint, short surface rub marks on Side 1B. These are barely visible and do not affect the sound. There are 2 or 3 random clicks on the entire 2 record set. The lines on the photo of the record are from the camera flash. Excellent, collectable condition. Audibly checked.
