Charles Mingus on East Coasting 12-001

This is the original reissue of Charles Mingus’ rare “Music Written for Monterey, 1965”.  The 2-LP limited Edition (#187) gatefold is sealed and is one of the first 200 copies to include a photo-insert that details the story of the recording and subsequent destruction of the original tapes.  Also included is the 7” EP of previously unissued material from Mingus’ September 18,1965 appearance at the Monterey Jazz Festival.

Personnel include Charles McPherson, Julius Watkins, Jimmy Owens, Hobart Dotson, and Lonnie Hillyer.
