Description

Thanks for your interest in this fine and rare piece of jazz history. This is the third release in the Dial 'great sides of modern jazz - lp series'. Charlie Parker #3: Dial 203, released in 1949. Please read below for detailed information on the condition of this piece. Generally speaking, both vinyl and jacket are about as near NM as one could get. In fact, it is likely that this piece has never (or rarely ever) been played. I will happily answer any questions about this release. Good luck with your bidding.

Side 203-A: Listed as the Charlie Parker Quintet, and featuring: Charlie Parker (alto); Miles Davis (trumpet); Howard McGhee (trumpet); Dodo Marmarosa (piano); Barney Kessel (guitar); Duke Jordan (piano); Tommy Potter (bass); and Max Roach (drums): Don’t Blame Me; Dexterity; Bird of Paradise; Bongo Bop. Side 203-B: Listed as the Charlie Parker Sextet, and featuring: Charlie Parker (alto); Miles Davis (trumpet); J.J. Johnson (trombone); Duke Jordan (piano); Tommy Potter (bass); and Max Roach (drums): Embraceable You; Dewey Square; Quasimodo; Scrapple From Apple.

Vinyl: Flat and clean; visible scratches on both sides that are intermittently audible but do not otherwise affect play; a couple of very small bubbles in vinyl that do not affect play. Some surface noise, most prevalent between tracks

Record label: Fully intact; minor spindle wear.

Jacket: Fully intact; slight age spotting. Charlie Parker and bird in a beret image with light blue background.

Note:  In response to several bidder or prospective bidder questions about the back side of the LP jacket for other similar Parker pieces, I've included an additional picture in the listing. Although this picture is of the back cover of Dial 206, Art Tatum, the back covers of Dial 201 - 206 are identical and not specific to each release. At one time, I had possession of Dial, 201, 202, 203, 205 and 206.

Details: I accept Pay-Pal only and will ship to US addresses for $5.00 via Media Mail. Other shipping methods are available at additional cost. Based on the value of this piece, I would strongly recommend shipping insurance. Please inquire about international shipping. For international shipping, I prefer US Post Office Express Mail, because it allows tracking of the package to its destination. For example, I recently sold a similar piece to a buyer in Japan, and it made it there in about 5 days.
