Description

Charlie Patton RARE LP ONE OF ORIGINAL 1st 500 COPIES(??) Origin Jazz Library.

1929-32 vol.1 in a special collector’s edition of 500 copies

MY COPY APPEARS TO BE NUMBERED BY HAND ON THE REAR TOP SEAM IS A SMALL LABEL STICKER LABELED #050 and I am almost certain this is one of the original 500 pressing hand numbered, envelope sleeve covers assembled by the folks who put these lp’s out I believe!!

PLEASE MAKE SURE TO SEE THE PICS, you can see on the rear cover the sticker label partially covered up by the top seam tape, it says #050 which I do not see on the more commonly sold pressing however you’ll have to judge for yourself, I am still researching this. It was bought online about 15years ago or more in a box lot of blues albums that included this and also interestingly had 5 other origin jazz library pressings but with no covers, the owner had bought generic white sleeves. Just makes me believe this collector got ahold of some rare first pressings.

This is a nice clean copy plays thru both sides no problem, NOTE THIS IS A VERY RARE LP MADE FROM THE ORIGINAL 78 records SO SOUND QUALITY IS NOT THE BEST BUT IS STILL ALL THERE AND IN YOUR FACE AS SOON AS IT COMES ON!! I graded at VG+/VG+ cover has some general wear and really does look like a test pressing or something hand assembled, record comes out of the left side instead of right side of cover, and appears to be hand assembled and this looks like it’s number 050 of the original 500!!!

CAN ANY COLLECTORS OUT THERE HELP ME OUT ON INFO ON THIS?? I am almost certain that they pressed the initial 500 copies as collectors edition, and then later repressed a second issue (possibly the one with the darker yellow label, mine is a beige off white tan label, there is a hand applied sticker noting it’s #050 and this hand applied sticker is halfway UNDERNEATH the original top seam seal! So it has to be original. Judge for yourself! But I do believe this a very rare copy one of the original 500 and an EARLY NUMBERED ONE TOO!! (50 of 500)

Sold in as-is condition, no returns unless major discrepancies with description and item received, I try my best to describe accurately if you need more info or pics it’s no problem just let me know!

Feel free to make offers:)

I base this price off of the only other original vol. 1 Patton OJL record I could find online in popsike. com they have auction results showing an original sold between 5-600$ a few years back, you can go to the site and check it out, great website.

USA only if international contact me before buying! Thanks!!

CHECK OUT ALL THE PICS AND IF YOU NEED ANY MORE INFO JUST LET ME KNOW!!

The lp itself has been cleaned carefully and gently and play tested, it is a transfer from very rough 78’s as I’m sure you know but the LP sounds great they really did a good job on this in my opinion.

A few light marks here and there but nothing drastic affecting play.

TIMELESS MASTERPIECE!!!!

Dead wax etching is : audio matrix (stamp) OJL-1-A CH

Cover shows general wear, about VG+/VG+

Great great copy. Very nice. Cover has some taped seams and some general wear but may have been assembled this way?

Any questions just let me know!! Thanks!!!
