After many years of singing and recording, this is their first long-play album. The Sproles Family as it is today, began many years ago from the desires and ambitions of T. B. Sproles, known to all as "Dad" Sproles. Dad started the children singing when they were old enough to talk and since that time, they have carried the Gospel in song. He sings the second tenor when the family is singing together, but most of the singing is trio-style. Dad, now past seventy-five, feels his reward is to sing a song or two and sit back to enjoy the results of many years labor for the Lord. His voice will be heard on four songs on this album, "Everywhere I Go", "Beautiful Highway", "He Pardons Me", and "I Have Heard About Heaven". In addition to Dad Sproles, the group is composed of Ronald, Bill, and Gilda. Ronald, better known as "Tom", is an ordained Baptist minister, pastoring a church full-time and doing revival work. He sings bass in the quartet and baritone in the trio. Bill does the lead and plays electric guitar, while Gilda sings alto and plays piano and accordion. In addition to their own instruments, they are assisted on this album by Becky Luther of Asheboro, North Carolina at the organ, and husband Jimmy on the bass. Roy Herman of Kannapolis, North Carolina, played rhythm guitar. The Sproles Family is different than most Gospel-sing- ing groups as they spend most of their time in church ser- vices, singings, and revival meetings. The songs you hear on this record are their most re- quested songs, selected to give the greatest inspiration, and sang only as they can sing them.
