Description

The Chicago Loopers, under direction of Frank Trumbauer and supervised by Willard Robison, were supposed to be Pathe's continuation of the sound of Red Nichols' Red Heads when the latter had moved exclusively to Brunswick. However, on October 20 1927, only one session was made with this group which included (apart from ex- Goldkette musicians Bix Beiderbecke, Frank Trumbauer and Don Murray), Frank Signorelli, probably Eddie Lang and Vic Berton. "Clorinda" has a charming vocal chorus by Willard Robison's Deep River Quintet. Bix recorded for Gennett, Okeh, Victor, Columbia, Harmony and Brunswick but this was his only recording session for Pathe/Perfect. These sides were primitively recorded and perhaps for that reason sales were very poor and the record is, especially with a Pathe label and in this condition, very rare.

The record is in Excellent minus to Excellent condition, with some scratches and, especially on the "Mice" side, some (inaudable) scuffing. However, there is no groove wear and without the imperfections mentioned above the record could be graded E+.
