Chico Hamilton US 2nd Press LP Chic Chic Chico NM ’72 Impulse AS82 Jazz Hard Bop

US Reissue LP released in 1972 on Impulse Records. Cat: AS-82. Comes in thick gloss gatefold cover.
Over the next few weeks I will be listing some wonderful Jazz titles from a recently acquired Jazz collection. The original owner passed away back in 1985 and his sister decided to hold onto them for sentimental reasons. She had not touched or played them since then (1985!!). The records are in stunning condition for their age many, apart from a few light age spots on the covers, look like they walked off the shelf yesterday. I hope you enjoy viewing and possibly purchasing these wonderful jazz vinyl artifacts as much as i have in preparing them for sale and listening to them!!

For this interesting LP, drummer Chico Hamilton is mostly heard with an octet of Los Angeles musicians. The group, comprised of trumpet/trombone/tenor man Harold Land, French horn/flute (or piccolo) player and guitarist Gabor Szabo, bassist Albert Stinson, and the drummer/leader, performs originals by Hamilton and Szabo, plus "What's New." The concise performances (which are often tightly arranged) are full of subtleties and fine playing, particularly from the guitarist. The title cut was recorded two months later and is the last recording by Chico Hamilton with his star sideman Charles Lloyd, who is heard on flute.

Tracks: Chic Chic Chico/ Corrida de toros/ Tarantula/ What’s new/ St. Paddy’s day parade/ Carol’s walk/ Swampy/ Fire works.

There are a few very light spindle marks on labels. Record has a few light scuff marks that cause a few light crackles and is in Near Mint condition. Thick gloss gatefold sleeve has a few light age spots and a small seam split on inside of gatefold and is in Excellent condition.

Payment is accepted by Paypal. Within Australia we also accept Direct deposit transfer and Australia Post Money Orders.

Wrapping method: All records are sent in stiff cardboard mailers then wrapped in brown paper and sealed around edges with brown packaging tape. Records are taken out of sleeve to avoid seam splits and ring wear.
