THE CHOCOLATE WATCH BAND -

REQUIEM/WHAT’S IT TO YOU

(DECCA F12704 - PROMO) (RELEASED 1967)

 

Classy UK Brassy Pop-sike, released in December 1967 and comped on such albums as ‘The British Psychedelic Trip’ etc. First rate track, the B side (What’s It To You) is a gem as well!

 

Not to be confused with the USA San Jose Garage Band (Sweet Young Thing etc), this duo comprising Gary Osborne and Jack Oliver, only released two singles before calling it a day.

 

Strident and breezy brassy pop psych funnily enough was a minor hit here in Perth (Peak No 25 –  1968). This is a UK Decca Promo with a date written in pen – 18/12/67 – on the push out centre A side. Originally purchased from an Ex Radio Station stockholding in Perth, I assume that Decca UK sent promos to Australia as perhaps a station was playing a UK imported copy and there was no local release at the time. The Aussie Decca was released Jan. 1968.

 

Any issue of this single is now scarce and sought after. A prime example of UK Popsike circa ’67!

Record = VG+ (A side looks and plays EX, B side has some markings/’burns’ - not scratches - which do not affect play. This side looks VG because of this but plays closer to EX)
