Chuck Berry After School Session 1957 2nd Mono Press Black Chess Label VG/VG+.
For auction is a very good listeners copy of After School Session by the “Father of Rock and Roll”, Chuck Berry. This is the debut of the pioneering singer, songwriter and guitarist that was released in May 1957. The album displays the iconic guitar sound redefined and created by Berry using elements of rhythm and blues. It features the classics, “Too Much Monkey Business”, “Wee Wee Hours”, “Brown Eyed Handsome Man” and “School Days”. The latter is considered one of his signature songs and has become a rock and roll anthem. This copy is a 1957 2nd press with black Chess labels. The original was pressed a few months earlier the same year. The only difference is the “Chess LP 1426 Hi-Fidelity” on the top right of front cover is in yellow box, while on the 1st press there is no box.
Vinyl is play graded VG. Some visible surface marks but nothing deep that can be felt. Plays with mild background noise at times that is never overwhelming. Sounds great for a record this age! No skips or jumps. Please see pics.
Laminated cover is in VG+ condition. Mild shelf wear on corners and seams but no splits. Title side is perfectly legible. Bottom corners are slightly dented on both sides. Ring wear and stains are on back as well as a crease on lower left side. Super solid and looks amazing! Please see pics.
