Description

The true first pressing, without the yellow box around "CHESS LP 1426 Hi-Fidelity" in upper right corner of cover. The yellow box is thought to be added for second pressing.

Hearing this music in its original mastering is startling, it's a much more live-sounding mastering than the current digital streams offer (those record-cutters knew what they were doing), and besides this is a cool album for giving the real range of Chuck Berry's writing and performing styles...yes he was great with high-school subjects, but have you ever heard "Downbound Train?" The only train song I know that involves Satan and a boiler full of lager beer.

VG-/G++ vinyl, tracks fine, continuous light surface noise that mostly disappears when the music starts. "Downbound Train" has slightly more prominent clicks. The sleeve is a gorgeous VG, brought down from + by some splittage at the spine.
