One of the very best UK prog LPs. Privately issued in 1973 and limited to 1000 copies. Cirkus were a very popular local band in this area and all 1000 copies of the album were sold around the North East. Because of that the record used to be fairly common around here, consequently I’ve had loads of copies over the years. However, these have all dried up now and on the rare occasions one does turn up these days it’s usually in poor condition. This one however is a lovely copy, the best one I’ve had for several years.
Sleeve: EX – This is a very delicate gatefold sleeve made from thin, flimsy card, that coupled with the very dark sleeve design means that even the slightest bit of wear is easily visible. This is a nice one though with the front having only the very lightest shelfwear, no tears, on writing or ink marks anywhere. The rear sleeve has the beginnings of some ringwear but it’s nowhere near as bad as most copies, to get a copy with no ringwear at all on the rear is virtually impossible. Inside the gatefold is as good a copy as I’ve ever seen, no wear or damage of any type.
The spine has a little bit of wear but the writing is all readable. Because of the thinness of the card the spine is a bit compressed, again to get on that’s not like this is just about impossible. The top seam, surprisingly is unworn. The bottom seam however does have some shelfwear in parts.
Both labels are clean and free from any sort of wear or damage.
Record: EX. The disc itself is a strong EX, it’s very clean and has no visible surface marks at all. When played the sound is clean and clear throughout. The only unwanted noise I noticed through the whole LP was some very very light, almost unnoticeable crackles between tracks on side two which were probably only noticeable because I was playing it at such high volume.
A very nice copy of a record which has always been very rare everywhere but in this area and is now rare even here. It’ll be very tough indeed to obtain a better copy than this.
