Lovely copy of one of the very best progressive rock albums ever issued in this country.  The quality of the songs, playing and production make it very hard to believe that the band (with the backing of a local businessman) had to produce this themselves as they couldn’t get a recording contract.

Cirkus were a very popular band around the area where I live, because of this most of the copies of this album have come from this area.  It used to be quite easy to find around here at one time but copies have totally dried up now and it’s become very rare.  I’ve had quite a lot of these over the years and it’s not unknown for me to have half a dozen copies at any one time, however over the last year I’ve only managed to get my hands on two copies, one of (which is not in great condition) will be coming here soon at a much cheaper price and this one which is the best copy I’ve had for some years.

Sleeve:

The lovely gatefold sleeve is notoriously prone to wear, it’s made from very thin unlaminated card with a very dark design.  This always leads to ringwear and scuffing everywhere making it very difficult to find a decent copy.  This one though is very nice indeed.

The front is very clean, no tears, no creases, no unwanted ink marks and almost miraculously no wear or damage of any kind.  Very nice!

The rear is also in fine shape.  It’s extremely clean, no tears, no creases, no ink marks, there is the beginnings of some light ringwear but virtually every copy I’ve seen has this, it’s almost impossible to find a copy which doesn’t have, at least, the beginnings of ringwear and this is way better than most copies.  The very slight ringwear aside there’s no other wear or damage of any type.

Inside the gatefold is pretty much perfect, no wear or damage of any type.

The top seams are virtually unworn.

The bottom seams have a little bit of minor wear but nothing serious.

The spine has a little bit of minor wear but all of the writing is readable.

The open edge is sharp and well defined with no tears or feathering.

Record:

The record itself is in fine condition.  It’s made from very thin but very good quality vinyl which is very clean and has a lovely dark sheen.  In normal light there are no visible surface marks at all.  When examined closely under a very harsh lamp a few very light hairline marks are revealed, these are caused by taking the record in and out of its sleeve and are in no way audible.

Both labels are in perfect condition.

When played the record sounds great.  Considering that it’s a private pressing both the production and sound quality are of a very high quality giving the music a dynamic quality which makes to it appear to leap from the speakers in a most enjoyable fashion.  The bass is deep and expansive and all other instruments clear and well defined, this actually sounds a lot better than a lot of major label releases.  Throughout the whole record I couldn’t find one piece of unwanted surface noise, there’s no pops, clicks or crackles, no groovewear or distortion, certainly no jumping or sticking, just a fine copy of a great and very rare record.

All records will be sent housed in PVC sleeves with the records removed from the outer covers.  The packaging will be strong and adequate enough to protect the record well on its journey.  Although I haven’t been that active on ebay (mainly cos I hate sitting at a computer) I’ve bought and sold records all over the world for over 30 years now and never had any complaints of records being damaged in transit.
