Description
This is the original UK release in 1964 of "To Know Him Is To Love Him" by Cleo" b/w "There Are But Five Rolling Stones" by The Andrew Oldham Orchestra on Decca (F.11817).
It is no secret that Andrew Loog Oldham was a big admirer and supporter of Phil Spector. Here he pays homage to his music idol by producing a cover version (by Cleo*) of Spector's first big hit "To Know Him Is To Love Him" which was originally recorded by The Teddy Bears in the late 50s. Oldham, of course, is famously known for his association with The Rolling Stones, who provide back-up on the "A" side. The flip follows Spector's 'dubious' practice of a throwaway instrumental (usually jazz styled) track as the "B" side, although this is a great little instrumental rocker and hardly a "throwaway". Good stuff!
Please refer to Photo Gallery for writing & production credits plus condition of record labels.
Single comes in a record company paper sleeve.
"A" side audibly graded as VG. "B" side audibly graded as VG.
*Cleo Sylvestre: This was her only recording before becoming a success as an actress in film & television and also on stage.
